Music has lost a poet and legend. The one and only Gordon Lightfoot just passed away.
We are big Gordo fans in this house. We sit with a view of Lake Superior, or Gitche Gumee, often. We have a large number of Gordon Lightfoot albums there. I love nearly every single song.
To celebrate Gordon and his musical lyrical ballads and life changing songs, we watched a wonderful documentary on Amazon. We’ve watched it multiple times, but it was especially poignant after his death. Amazingly, that documentary was filmed as he was about 80, a mere few years ago. We also listened to a CBC podcast celebrating him.
So few musicians today write music, let alone their own music. He was unique in that way. The accolades and memories will continue. And they are so very well deserved.
